My Journey: From Engineering to Technology Leadership

My Journey

Every career begins with a defining moment. For me, that moment arrived right after school. While I briefly considered medical studies, a teacher’s advice changed everything and led me toward engineering a choice that shaped my career and passion for technology. I enrolled at Thapathali Engineering Campus under Tribhuvan University, where my curiosity for innovation evolved into a lifelong pursuit of problem-solving.

Early Passion for Electronics

Discovering the Diploma in Electronics Engineering felt like a perfect match. Since childhood, I had been fascinated by electronics tinkering with gadgets, sketching circuits, and wondering how things worked. At Thapathali, that curiosity turned into technical knowledge. I completed my diploma with distinction, gaining a strong foundation in electronics, automation, and communication systems that would define my future career.

Robotics as a Catalyst for Growth

Joining the Robotics and Automation Center was a turning point. I participated in national competitions like Mission Everest (2006) and Bhoto Jatra (2007), where I learned teamwork, perseverance, and the importance of turning ideas into practical solutions.

I also worked on projects such as automatic time switches, regulated power supplies, and intelligent room power controllers small but impactful innovations that taught me that great engineering often starts with solving everyday problems.

Representing Nepal on a Global Stage

In 2009, I proudly represented Nepal at Kshitij, IIT Kharagpur one of Asia’s most prestigious techno-management festivals. Presenting technical solutions on such an international platform broadened my perspective and connected me with innovators worldwide, reinforcing my belief that technology is a universal language for collaboration and progress.

Resilience and Academic Growth

After completing my diploma, I faced a year of reflection when my plan to study abroad did not materialize. That experience taught me resilience and reminded me that setbacks can redirect us to even better opportunities. I went on to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication at the National College of Engineering (NCE).

During this time, I strengthened my robotics journey participating in RoboCup Nepal (2010), serving as President of the NCE Robotics Club (2011–2013), and leading my team to become Second Runner Up at Yantra 1.0 (2012), Nepal’s first National Robotics Festival. These experiences honed my skills in leadership, project management, and technical innovation.

Exploring Practical Innovation

My bachelor’s projects included practical, real-world applications such as greenhouse automation for smart agriculture and RFID-based vehicle tracking systems for enhanced security. I even experimented with RC plane design and aerodynamics, further expanding my technical and creative skills.

In 2013, I joined the NASA International Space Apps Challenge: Kathmandu Hackathon, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve global challenges an experience that reminded me how engineering can impact lives beyond borders.

Expanding Beyond Robotics

After completing my engineering studies, I gradually transitioned from robotics to broader technological fields. I have since worked on e-governance initiatives, contributed to digital transformation projects, and taken on roles in broadcast engineering and education areas. You can learn more in the upcoming posts of my portfolio.
