My Journey of Growth: From Kathmandu to Lifelong Curiosity

Growing up in Kathmandu, in the heart of the Newar community, was like living inside a living museum. Every street corner had a story, every temple carried centuries of history, and every festival brought the city to life. This vibrant environment shaped my early years, filling me with a deep appreciation for Nepal’s heritage, culture, and traditions.

My personal journey didn’t start with big achievements. Like many children, I was just an ordinary student, quietly following the path of school life. But a few small sparks of encouragement a teacher’s praise, a good result, a moment of recognition transformed everything. They taught me the value of discipline, focus, and steady effort, which became the foundation of my growth. Over time, I learned that personal development doesn’t happen overnight. It is built patiently, step by step, through consistency and resilience.

Outside the classroom, my curiosity guided me. I loved exploring and experimenting with electronic devices, taking them apart to discover how they worked. These hands-on experiences became my earliest lessons in problem-solving and innovation. I taught myself to swim and cycle during my teenage years, proving to myself that growth comes when we challenge our fears.

Unlike many of my peers, I wasn’t drawn to outdoor sports. Instead, I preferred spending time listening to radio programs debates, motivational talks, and news discussions that opened my mind and inspired me to think beyond the classroom. These moments shaped my perspective and taught me the importance of lifelong learning.

Growing up during a time of social and political change in Nepal gave me an even deeper understanding of equality, respect, and fairness. I learned to appreciate the diversity around me and to value every individual’s story.

Today, when I look back, I see that my early life was not just about schooling it was a journey of self-discovery, discipline, and transformation. My story is proof that even small sparks of curiosity can grow into a fire that fuels a lifetime of learning.

Curious about what happened after school? Don’t miss the next post in my journey.
